Granville is one of the unknown Blackards. His line of the family may not have survived the Civil War. Solely on the basis of the 1840 census of Patrick County Va and process of elimination, I have tentatively put him on the family tree as the son of the unknown Aaron Blackard in the 1840 census and the brother of Joel Blackard.

James appears to belong to a lost line of the Blackard family that settled in Mecklenburg County NC which is on the South Carolina border. Three other Blackards in consecutive generations appear to have been recorded in that county, none of which we can fit into the family tree at present.

The descendents of Thomas Washington Blackard still live in Person and Caswell Counties in North Carolina. Many still attend Mt. Zion Church where he is buried. Mt. Zion was once the Hargis Meeting House and is located near Flat River and Hurdle's Mill where we know that both Job Blackard and Charles Blackard II once lived. This community appears to be where all of the Blackard family lived at some time in the 1780s.
