!Tennessee Belle (Tennie or Tinnie) Blackard: b. 05 Jan. 1861 in TN (probably Lawrence County)(source: Oklahoma Cert. of Death and Cemetery marker); dau. of John Blackard and Mary Ann Counce (Counts). Soon after her birth the family moved to Sevier County, AR. In 1867, after the death of her mother, John Blackard and 2nd wife Martha Jane Bourland Blackard went to Sebastian County, AR. They are in the 1870 census, Marion Township, Sebastian County, AR. "Tennie" is 9 years old. She married John Barnes, son of Solomon Barnes and Mary Keffer, 16 Aug. 1877, at Hartford, Sebastian County, AR (source: Marriage Records, Greenwood Dist., Sebastian County, AR). After marriage, John and "Tennie" moved to the vicinity of Hartshorne, Pittsburg County, OK and then moved to the vicinity of Stratford, Garvin County, OK where they engaged in farming. After they became too old to farm, they moved back to Hartshorne where they both died. "Tennie" died at the age of 91, 04 April 1952, in Hartshorne, OK. She is buried in the Sulphur Cemetery, a small rural cemetery approximately 3 miles west of Hartshorne (source: Oklahoma Cert. of Death and Cemetery marker).

-----------------------------------------------------------------John and Tennessee moved to Oklahoma from Hacket, Arkansas. After John passed away Tennessee lived with her daughter MinnieMcMurtey until she became too ill. Then she moved in with Jewell and Effie Hamlin and lived there until she passed away. Tennessee was a small and quiet woman. She know Belle Star the outlaw. Witnesses for her wedding were: Riley Blackard and John Keffer.
