13. Sarah Blackard
John McMurtry Jr had two wives, Sarah Blackard being #2. Name of wife #1 unknown. Sarah was mother of daughter Elizabeth Jane McMurtry, son William L. McMurtry (who served in Civil War and died in Bastrop, LA in 1864), and another daughter I think Mary (married Norman?) The older children were from John's first marriage. Elizabeth Jane McMurtry married a Geers. John McMurtry Jr. died in White Co, Il before 1860 and maybe before 1850. Sally Blackard went to live in Bastrop with William L and wife Hellen A J Davis (step daughter of his step-brother) in Bastrop. William L lived in St. Clair Co., IL until 1859/1860. William L died around 1864 and family moved to Ark. to live with James McMurtry (the doctor/minister). This stuff I know from the family Bible and a couple letters I have. William L's son Sylvester died in Texas - I have his picture. Also Elizabeth Jane McMurtry's picture. I am descended from Elizabeth Jane McMurtry. There are two different marriage dates in various sources for John Jr and Sarah which is confusing. -Laurie Shaft

.
I don't seem to have any information on Job for the 1840 Census. I think he was still in Tennessee
.
It seems that Job and family were living near the present town of Goodlettsville, which was formed in 1853 or so, and lies 1/2 in Sumner Co and 1/2 in Davidson Co near the Robertson Co line.
.
Approximately 15 miles north on I-65 is White House, located on the Sumner Co/ Robertson Co Line, and is where the youngest son of Joshua Blackard, James Knox Blackard, was raised by his grandmother Dorris. The only son of James Knox Blackard, William Kaizer Blackard, was born in White House on Jan 21, 1872.

-Rebecca MossRESEARCH-NOTES: .HUNTERSVILLE, which is located in western Madison County, was established by the early 1820’s, when Andrews Chapel (named for Bishop Andrews) was organized. This community was later referred to as Andrew’s Chapel by the Post Office Department.
The first school was a one room school house and the teacher was Pat Davis. Later the Vine Hill school was established southeast of the community, and Center Point school was located nine miles north of this community. These schools were later combined into one school in about 1914.
Some early churches of this community were: Andrews Chapel (organized in the early 1820’s), the Ararat Baptist Church (organized about 1850), and the Bethlehem Church.
Early settlers of this community included the families of: Blackard, Chandler, Coles, Crittenden, Pat Davis, Joe Henning, Hopper, Dr. John Hunter (physician who practiced in this community), Ingram, Ivey, Major James Meriwether, Murtaugh, Pegues, Perry, Strain, Transou, Tyson, Valentine, Witherspoon and Matt Wyley (store keeper of Dr. John Hunter’s store).
http://www.henderson-lea.hc.k12tn.net/donahue/madison/history/earlycom.htmRESEARCH-NOTES: .Lawrence County was created October 21, 1817, by an act of the Tennessee
General Assembly from mostly Indian Territory as a result of the Treaty of
1816 with the Chickasaw Indians. The county seat, Lawrenceburg, was chosen in
1819 because of its proximity to the center of the county and the fact that
Jackson's Military Road ran on the eastern edge of the town. In April, 1821,
the road was changed to go through the center of the town. This road was a
major thoroughfare from Natchez, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee, and
has played a significant role in the development of the county. The county
and county seat were both named in honor of Captain James Lawrence, U.S.
Naval hero of the War of 1812.LAND & ESTATE RECORDS
