Evidence of Blackard Land Ownership in Colonial North
Carolina
There appears to be abundant evidence that several members of the Blackard
family owned land in colonial NC. However, prior to Job Blackard in 1798
none of them registered deeds for this land with the NC Secretary of State
or with local courts. This is very curious, however, records of them posting
marriage bonds requiring land sufficient to cover a $250 bond and being
named in court minutes requiring land owners to participate in road duty
prove this is fact.
1757 Charles Blackard I was listed on 2 separate Granville County, NC
