This Indenture made this 23rd day of November, 1791, between
Thomas Scott and Sarah Scott his wife of Charlotte County of
the one part and Clement Read of the same County of the other
part. . . for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred
& Twenty Pounds . . . doth give grant bargain sell and confirm
unto the said Clement Read . . . a certain tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the County of Brunswick containing Four
Hundred & Four acres on both sides of the Great Branch of Waqua
Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning on Simpsons
line near the bank thence No. 12 E 116 Poles to a srub white
oak thence No. 55 W 152 Pos. to an oak thence North 84 W 160
Poles to a small Hickory thence So. 12 230 Poles to a shrub
white oak thence So. 70 E 140 to a Black Jack thence No. 12
E 108 Poles to the Beginning . . . Signed by Thomas Scott and
Sarah Scott and witnessed by John Coleman, Wm. Cooper, C. Scott,
Henry E. Coleman, and Thos. C. Elliott. Brunswick County Court
June 21st, 1792. This Indenture of Bargain and Sale was proved
by the oaths of William Cooper, C. Scott & Thomas C. Elliott,
