The following is a true and exact copy of deed dated March 5, 1814, recorded
in the Office of the Clerk of the Court of
Grayson County, Virginia.
This Indenture made this fifth day of March in the year of our Lord 1814
Between Wilybe Blackard and his wife Susannah
Blackard of the County of Grayson and State of Virginia of the one part and
John Dalton and Rheuben Cock of the County and
State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth. That-for and in consideration
of the sum of seven hundred Dollars to them in
hand paid by the said John Dalton and Rheuben Cock the receipt whereof they
doth acknowledge themselves fully satisfied the
said Wilyoughby Blackard and his wife Susannah hath given granted bargained
and sold and by these presents doth give alien
and confirm unto the said John Dalton and Rheuben Cock a certain tract or
parc8l of land lying and being in County and
State aforesaid on the waters of Big Reed Island containing by survey three
hundred and thirty four acres bounded as
followeth. To wit. Beginning on a black gum and white oak on William Yiogomery
corner tree thence South 40 E 160 poles to a
white oak South 31 West 56,poles to a white oak South 66 East 72 poles to
a black oak North 32 East 29 poles to a black oak
and white oak North 49' west 32 poles to a red oak North 13' west 196 poles
to beginning on Thomas Jessops survey and
bounded by the lines as set forth in a deed of conveyance from Thomas Jessops
to Wiloughby Plackard and recorded in
Grayson,County at May term 1813 together with its appurtenances to have and
to hold the said tract or parcel of land with
all and singular its appurtenances herein before mentioned or intended to
be. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel
of land with its appurtenances unto the said John Dalton and Rheuben Cock
and to their heirs and assigns forever and the
said Wiloughby Blackard and his wife his heirs And assigns to said tract
of land and all and singular the premises@ herein
before mentioned unto the said John Dalton and,Rheuben Cock their heirs and
to them and their proper use and uses and said
Blackard and his wife doth warrant and for ever defend against their heirs
and assigns unto said Dalton and Cock to them
and theirs and by these doth confirm unto them all his right and title of
said land, In witness whereof the said Wiloughby
Blackard and Susannah Blackward hath hereunto set their hand and affixed
their seals this day and year above written signed
